Risk + Resilience Tech Hub
The U.S. Economic Development Agency (EDA) designated the South Florida Risk + Resilience Tech Hub as one if its 31 Tech Hubs across the United States, and only one of 18 that was funded.
The only Hub located in the State of Florida, the South Florida Risk + Resilience Tech Hub was awarded $19.5M by the EDA to advance the region’s global leadership in sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions to help communities thrive during extreme weather events, while driving regional economic growth and productivity.
Building off the region’s unique combination of resources such as its coastal and marine infrastructure, cluster of clean cement and energy efficiency building industries, and academic and research institutions, the Risk + Resilience Tech Hub will develop, commercialize and scale resilient infrastructure technologies. These technologies will protect South Florida’s coasts, fortify the infrastructure of its built environment and protect people and property during extreme weather events, ensuring long-term protection, durability, and rapid recovery that can benefit all coastal communities across the nation, and the world.
Leveraging the Power of Local Partnerships
FIU is working closely with the University of Miami, Titan America and Carbon Limit to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable technologies, such as Clean Concrete, an innovative system that lowers our community’s carbon footprint and will create thousands of high paying jobs.
