(MIAMI, FL – March 26, 2022) On Saturday, March 26, 2022, a team of 4 students, Team Rookies, won the campus-wide Hult Prize competition by showcasing their startup, Crash Kitchen.
“We are thrilled because Hult Prize was the first startup competition we attended and the scope and mission of Hult Prize drives us to truly push ourselves and grow professionally and personally!”, said Ha Le, Team Captain of Rookies, the winning team of the Hult Prize OnCampus Competition at StartUP FIU.
Winners of the FIU campus-wide competition now have the opportunity to present their idea at one of the Virtual Regional Summits, where they will compete with other collegiate groups throughout the region.
“Being able to understand our customers means everything to us. We believe that due to our focus on our customers, we were able to win on campus. …we are working on ways to interview more customers, generate their feedback, adjust our business model along the way, and hopefully to build a tangible prototype for our business when we’re back to Vietnam this May.”, said Ha Le, Team Captain of Rookies, the winning team of the Hult Prize OnCampus Competition at StartUP FIU.
StartUP FIU, an initiative to foster entrepreneurship and innovation on campus, has proudly hosted the Hult Prize since 2016 and is thrilled that its creative and dedicated student team(s) have been able to move on to regionals.
“The hard work that all the teams gave was definitely shown during our pitch competition. Everyone’s pitch was compelling and inspired us all.”, said Maangelica Subido, Hult Prize at FIU 2022 Campus Director.
Internationally recognized, the Hult Prize is the largest social entrepreneurship competition in the world. Offering $1 million to its top winning team, the Hult Prize competition provides impact-focused programs, events, and training to over a million students globally, creating a pathway for youth everywhere to take action to build a better society.
This year’s theme – “Getting the World Back to Work” – challenged student entrepreneurs to create a business that makes a positive impact on the world while providing meaningful employment to at least 2,000 people by 2024.
